      Modern wooden poles of power transmission lines are widely used abroad, and have passed the test of time proving their high performance. In Latvia and Canada, wooden poles are employed for one hundred years or more. Wooden poles are mostly used in the territory from Finland with its severe northern climate to Greece with its warm climate, while reinforced concrete poles do not come into extensive use. Moreover, reinforced concrete poles are not employed in Finland at all, even in 110 kV lines.  Also, CCA (chromium, copper, arsenic) antiseptic impregnated poles are implemented even in North and South America, Australia, and Africa.

      Power transmission line poles manufactured by FWIP LLC represent a high quality product, which is similar to the products of Scandinavian manufacturers - the world leaders in this industry.       In Latvia and Canada, wooden poles are employed for one hundred years or more. Wooden poles are mostly used in the territory from Finland with its severe northern climate to Greece with its warm climate, while reinforced concrete poles do not come into extensive use. Moreover, reinforced concrete poles are not employed in Finland at all, even in 110 kV lines.  Also, CCA (chromium, copper, arsenic) antiseptic impregnated poles are implemented even in North and South America, Australia, and Africa. A distinctive feature of the products by FWIP LLC is a properly treated surface and maximally full-cell pressure impregnation with the CCA (chromium, copper, arsenic) antiseptic.

      Advantages of wooden power transmission line poles are:

      • Durability. The service life of the wooden poles manufactured by FWIP LLC is more than 50 years;
      • Light weight. The weight of a wooden pole is 2-3 times less than the weight of a reinforced concrete pole of the same length, which allows you to save on transport costs;
      • Convenience of transportation. Wooden poles are transported in a timber carrier by 60-70 pieces, easily unloaded once delivered to the site;
      • Ease of installation. Wooden poles can be installed without the use of heavy machinery. If necessary, the poles can be installed in the ground manually;
      • Good insulation properties. Due to the exceptional dielectric properties of wood and the absence of current leakages, wooden poles provide significant energy savings when transferring it over a long distance, and also simplifies the lightning protection;
      • Minimum cost of ownership. Due to the above advantages of wooden poles, taking into account their longer service life (50 years of wooden impregnated poles by FWIP LLC against 25 years of reinforced concrete poles), the cost of owning impregnated poles is 2-2.5 times lower than the cost of reinforced concrete poles or wooden poles with reinforced concrete attachment;
      • High resistance to natural factors (wind, ice, fire resistance);
      • No dominoes effect. Due to the mechanical properties of wooden poles and their relatively low weight, it is possible to avoid the failure of a power transmission line according to the "domino principle", as opposed to the use of reinforced concrete poles;

      Quality assurance:

      After impregnation, each batch of poles undergoes a thorough final inspection. With the aid of a hollow drill, the depth of impregnation is determined (at least 10 samples per batch). Only if all the quality indicators meet the specifications, the poles are labelled with tags with the information about the manufacturer, batch number, impregnation date, antiseptic applied, pole class and length.

      1. Wooden poles are produced from high-quality raw materials;
      2. Inspection of the impregnation depth in each batch of products;
      3. Products are provided with quality certificates and impregnation reports;
      4. Each pole passes electronic certification;

      Почему так важно соблюдение технологии при пропитке?

      Глубина пропитки древесины – один из важнейших параметров, влияющий на срок службы деревянных опор. На нашем предприятии производится пропитка защитными антисептиками в автоклаве по технологии «вакуум-давление-вакуум», которая обеспечивает пропитку древесины на всю глубину заболони. По ГОСТ должно быть пропитано не менее 85%. Такая опора прослужит не менее 50 лет в контакте с почвой.
      Глубина пропитки дешевых деревянных столбов не может похвастаться тем же. Опора с такой пропиткой не простоит в контакте с почвой и 10 лет. В целях снижения себестоимости некоторые производители грубо нарушают технологию производства, пропитывая опоры методом вымачивания в ванне, либо в устаревшем автоклаве.

      Как определить некачественную опору если визуально она выглядит так же?

      Проверить глубину пропитки деревянной опоры достаточно просто. Для этого можно даже не производить спил. Проверка производится с помощью специального инструмента – пустотелого бура. При приемке пропитанных деревянных опор необходимо в обязательном порядке проверять глубину пропитки!

      Можно ли покупать дешевые опоры?

      При выборе деревянных опор не следует руководствоваться исключительно  минимальной ценой, т.к. она может быть достигнута только путем нарушения технологического процесса. Это, в свою очередь, неизбежно ведет к снижению качества деревянных опор ЛЭП, существенному сокращению их срока службы, а также дополнительным затратам на ремонт и обслуживание линий электропередач и связи.
